Hit or Miss: Trying Avon Make up.

I feel like the stereotypical thing that some people think about Avon is that it's something your Nan would order from, and that it's just for 'old people' but oh boy, are they WRONG. I have never been disappointed with a product I've brought from Avon and that's saying something because I've ordered A LOT over the years. Avon was some of the first makeup that I ever used and by that I mean the first make up I managed to steal from my mums collection and pass off as my own. There are so many different things you can buy, it's not just make up or skin care! There's clothes, accessories, fragrances, jewellery, health and fitness, home ware and even kitchen equipment, lunch box anyone? Over the years and as I have got more and more into make up and different brands I kind of forgot that Avon make up existed and how it was actually my first make up love. I thought it was about time that I dove back in and ordered (almost) a full face of basic make up products 4/5 being from their mark. range to see whats new and whats changed and I was yet again not disappointed. If you're not into brand ass kissing then stop reading now because I'm about to kiss a whole of of Avon ass. ( That did sound a lot less weird in my head but I'm sticking to it, sorry.)

If you're not sure what Avon is I'll give you a super quick basic breakdown Avon was founded in 1886 by David H. McConnell and today is the fifth largest beauty company and, with over 6 million representatives worldwide, is the second largest direct selling enterprise in the world. I ordered my items from the catalog that I receive monthly as I have a local representative but they also have a website you can order from which is super easy to navigate, you can also use the website to locate a representative in your area and they even have an online version of the paper catalog.

At the time of ordering these items there was an offer on a selection of 4 products for £12!! An absolute bargain and just another reason as to why Avon is so affordable, they constantly have different offers and sales going on!

mark. Nude Matte Cream Concealer in Fair, £7.
I usually tend to stay away from products that are matte as I have very dry skin but I was pleasantly surprised at this formula. It's cream to powder formula isn't drying and it super easy to blend, it's pretty full coverage too. I've used this several times without the help of foundation and my skin has looked almost flawless. I will be honest and say the shade range isn't great at the moment there are only three shades, Fair, Medium and Deep. This is still a newer product so I hope that in time they introduce more shades. However I am super pale and usually find that the lightest shade in a range is too orange for me but the Fair shade is pretty perfect. It gives a very natural finish and doesn't make you look cakey.

mark. Setting Powder, £9.
This setting powder is white in colour in the pot but finishes translucent, it's super lightweight and doesn't feel like you're wearing a powder. It blurs imperfections, pores and fine lines almost completely disappear. The texture is velvety smooth. A small amount definitely goes a long way. The finish is matte but due to the small amount of shimmer it doesn't look drying or make your skin look too caked. I've never usually been a fan of loose powders as they can be a lot of work and quite messy in a rush, but I enjoyed using this formula and could definitely see visible improvements to the appearance of my skin and make up throughout the day.

mark. MagiX Prep & Set Spray, £6.
I was wary of this spray at first as I never really trust something that claims to do more than one thing, how can it prep my skin before make up and also set it once it's applied? But I had run out of my usual setting spray so decided to give this one a try. Is it better than my usual spray? No. Is is worse? No. It's pretty much the same, and I love it! I can't speak for how it works as a prepping spray as I only use it to set my make up, but it does what it says on the bottle. It keeps my make up in place and has a non sticky formula. For the price it's also a pretty big bottle!

True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick in Marvelous Mocha, £8*.
*Currently on offer for £5.00.
The lipstick is so velvety it makes me want to bathe in it. It's 100% matte but doesn't feel drying or dry your lips out. It feels lightweight and very hydrating, it also doesn't crack and the colour stays on for hours, its very rich and pigmented and honestly one of my new favourite matte formulas to wear, I just wish they had more nudes as I  would happily buy them all!

mark. Perfect Brow Sculpting pencil in Ash Blonde, £7*.
*currently on offer for £3.50!
For the past year I have religiously used the same L'Oreal eyebrow pencil because I love it and it works for me. But I wanted to push the boat out and try something different and (please read this in Janice from friends voice) OH MY GOD!! New holy grail, favourite eyebrow product, it's so creamy and easy to apply with it's superfine, slanted tip. It's also smudge proof and comes in 5 different shades. I also like that instead of just coating the colour onto the skin under your brows it actually sticks to the hairs, making it appear more natural looking. I love it so much I've ordered an extra two back ups. The only that would make it even better would be if it had a spoolie attached to it.
Rating 5/5.

Since ordering and reviewing these products I've also tried out the mark. Glow On Pressed Powder in Fair. It retails at £10.50 but I managed to pick it up in the sale for £4!! Although I would probably need this powder in one shade lighter (fair is the lightest shade they have and I'm super pale.) the formula of it is really nice and doesn't leave my skin feeling dry or looking patchy.
